DV7 pavilion, tpm chip enable - not possible or not present?

HP Pavilion dv7-4285dx Entertainment Notebook PC. does this laptop have TPM or not? bought this machine about a year ago ~. didn't want to enable Bitlocker or Bitlocker-to-go at the time as I intended to upgrade to win 7 ultimate/enterpise.

When I did get around to hardening the OS, I checked BIOS - but could not find option to enable TPM. I've read many pages of support documentation, so far have not found any mention of TPM being on the MB. Am I seriously to believe that it was not an installed feature.

The simplest way to see if it is installed is to open up your Device Manager and look for something that says Trusted Platform Module. It is likely to be under the Security Devices section.

You can also check int the System information utility that is part of Windows.

Normally TPM does not come installed in consumer notebook or desktop PC's

That feature is included on business PC's except in the couple of countries where it is illegal to have TPM installed on a PC.

That s/b corrected. TPM is not just for enterprise any more, it should be used/available on any internet connected PC/Laptop/Notebook.

Especially since BYOD is so widespread as policy.
