I have a lot of videos that I burn to DVDs as a way to store them and get them off my hard drive. I usually just use Windows Explorer to write the files to disc. When it asks if I want to use it like a USB drive or with a CD/DVD player, I tell it I want to use it with a CD/DVD player, although I only ever use these discs in my computer.  I've been using DVD+Rs, and they work fine, but I want to know if it HAS to be the +Rs, or if I can use DVD-Rs as well?  I read somewhere that you can look at your DVD drive and it will tell you if you can use +R, -R, or both, but my drive only says that it's a blu-ray player.

How can I find out if I can use both formats?

@Unchristened

That was the problem because Windows Explorer WON'T write files to the right DVD formats. Yes, it can use BOTH DVD +R or DVD -R.

Yes, you can use the following tool to check
