I have tried many times to go to the HP support web site to get the drivers for these devices. But when the HP Support web site ask these questions I get turned away being told My HP Laptop does not need any drivers, shut out.
The questions I’m asked are:
- System type HP Elitebook 8540p.
- Operating System: Windows 10 or 7 which ever it will take.
- Version Running
Then it will not let me in stating my system does not need drivers.
I have done Windows Update, in Settings the Troubleshooter on Hardware & Devices.
The troubleshooter sees the devices and the missing drivers and tries to download & install them but just can’t get it done.
Then, I get an error message that the device/driver are NOT FIXED on the Base System Devices and the Unknown device.
Thanks & Regards,

Hi:
You need these drivers for the devices you referenced...
Base system dev:
This package contains the Ricoh Media Card Reader Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Ricoh Media Card Reader driver provides support for the following media: Memory Stick, xD-Picture Card, MMC, SD, and SmartCard.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp46501-47000/sp46972.exe
Unk dev:
This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard for the supported notebook models and operating systems. HP 3D DriveGuard receives notifications from the integrated accelerometer and protects the hard drive (HDD) by automatically "parking the heads" to reduce the risk of damage if the notebook is accidentally bumped or dropped.
