This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP consumer class products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from an HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's.
YES, you should be able to install Windows 7 from a DVD.
1) Please use the HP Recovery Media you previously created to return the computer to a factory like state. If you didn't create your required HP Recovery Media when you first setup your computer, please see DVD - Windows 7 64b Recovery Kit or contact official HP support, via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer.
2) If you wish to use a generic Windows 7 OEM install DVD, this can be done by inserting the DVD in the drive and selecting the DVD drive as the boot device. A generic Windows 7 OEM DVD is not the same as the original HP provided Windows OS and does not install any HP drivers, HP customizations, or value-added software. You will have to manually install all needed drivers from the HP 15-g080nr Notebook PC Drivers page. You may also need to locate and install several drivers not listed on the HP support page. Please try the AMD provided AMD Chipset Drivers (SMBus, USB, and SATA/RAID) and post (just the text) the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids" for all remaining devices, as shown in the example below and we can direct you to the proper drivers;
3) Alternatively, if you can still read the 25-digit Windows product key on the Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, you can install Windows 7 using this key. Please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" for instructions on how to download Windows 7, create the installation media, and install Windows 7 using the 25-digit product key from the Microsoft COA on your computer. This method will not install any HP customizations or value-added software and you will have to manually install all needed drivers.
Links to Windows 7 SP1 can be found HERE and HERE. (Download the Windows 7)

Sir, Thank you for the Re-ply. It was straight forward and to the point. The Drivers are installed from within "Device Manager" and the HP website. I'm useing the Stock (the Hard Drive that came with the machine). So to erase it I'm useing a program I have. If all goes well I will write again, thank you for answering the question I put forth, I hope others can learn from what is in here. The Forum is the only place I can get Information and advice, thank you for letting me be a part of it, and solving my Problem with me.

Sirs: I've run into a small problem installing from Win7 OEM Disk. I get to the "Install to this Disk Screen" and all I get is An "Unallocated Disk" and a Message That say's it can't install to this Hard Drive. I tryed "Load Driver" the problem is I can't seem to figure which Chipset Driver (64Bit) to install (i.e. WR74, WR64). Could you give me a # of which Chipset Driver to use. I tryed some but all I get is a Caution Symbol reading: Window will not install to this Disk. Thank you for the help with this matter....

Sir, I Secure Erased the Hard Drive before I Installing the Win 7 OS Disk. And it ran perfect, It Installed perfectly. And the drivers, Chipset and Graphics Card Installed fine, LAN, and other Drivers, them too installed fine. Device Manager Helped a little too. But that goes to say you can Install an OS from DIsk. Or at least on the HP-15g080nr. Thank Youi Sir for all the help with this matter, I now have a New Operatring System on my HP-15 Laptop, It's a shame you really cant get at the Memory and Hard drive's, I would have liked to seen what 8Gb of RAM and a SSD would have done to the Machine... Thank You Sir....
