I decided to take a shot at this my self. However when you get to section C that says this:
To stop the need to switch the Intel and AMD GPU do the below procedure
Right click the desktop and choose ' Configure graphic ' (or something similar).
The below screen will show up.
Uncheck ' Automatically select power-saving GPU when on battery '.
We don't have that option on the Envy 17-t 3200 cto
Our version of the CCC is a very stripped down version with lots of missing options that should be there.

This issue, and the fact that HP hasn't allowed/released a driver update since April will probably be the reason I have to return my new Envy 17.
I bought this particular envy in large part because I want to run games when traveling and the 7850 card is very good for this price range of laptop. Gaming requires frequent driver updates though, and it doesn't look like HP is going to be of any use there. AMD releases driver updates to OEM's on a monthly basis, but HP doesn't pass that on to the customers at all from what I'm seeing.
Does anyone have any confidence that HP will support our Envy laptops once windows 8 is released?
I have zero at this point sadly.

I have the Envy 15-3247NR and am having the exact same problem described in this thread. The dynamic switching doesn't work at all and my computer only uses the Intel 4000 graphics no matter how I change the settings or how many times I use the recovery process to start clean.
HP tech support in India acts like they don't know what I'm talking about and never have heard of it. They just say to turn the power settings up to Max Performance and that I should trust I'm getting the AMD graphics card engaged. No way - my old Envy 14 with the ATI 5650 runs better than this new laptop. My FRPS are way too low and Skyrim doesn't even report the AMD GPU when launching - just the Intel GPU.
HP Tech Support India did offer a free copy of recovery media in the mail and sent me on my way.
Bummer, I thought this would be the perfect laptop for the next several years but I think I'll be returning it and going back to looking at MSI and Samsung models. But only modest screens and probably not Windows 7!

Hi,
On the startup press the F10 key to enter BIOS.
Select at the top System Configuration.
There will be listed Switchable Graphics Mode. Check is it set to Dynamic.
If it's not, set it to Dynamic and save those changes before leaving BIOS.
Resources of information which you should read:
