Hi, I have and HP Spectre x360 and I am trying to check my disk but when I restart my computer, underneath the HP logo it shows  "to skip disk checking press any key" and it counts down from 8 seconds, but at 5 seconds it just stops without anything touching the keyboard, doesn't check my disk, and continues to windows 10. Why does it do this and what can I do to stop it?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

BEFORE you do the Hard Reset, you should see if you can run CHKDSK following the instructions in the link: https://windowsinstructed.com/run-chkdsk-windows/

That's what I did to lead up to this. I am trying to check the disk, but thanks anyway. 🙂

So I found out I could run chkdsk from recovery mode without having to restart my computer, but when I try to run chkdsk f (fix) it won't let me because it says the drive is write protected.
