No, only 2.4ghz.

If you experience the "72mbps" only issue, try changing the name of your SSID.  I did that and I can once again, connect at 130Mbps.

Sorry, for a typo. I am connected at 150Mbps...not 130.

I upgraded from a N150 netgear router that only had 4 10/100 ethernet ports...to a netgear N600 router with 4 10/100/1000 ports so I could stream hd tv signals from a new HD Homerun Prime cablecard tuner device to ethernet atached home theater pc's.  I used the same SSID name from my old router and my wifi speed dropped from 150Mbps to 72Mbps.  This annoyed the h*ll out of me.

I also realized that my new wifi connection on my laptop was titled...for example, georgerouter(2) instead of georgerouter.  I then started thinking that this was a windows7 software issue, not a hardware issue.  I simply renamed my SSID name and I'm back to full speed on the 2.4ghz band. The windows SSID profile with my new name now runs at 150mbps.

I wish this HP pavilion g series notebook had 5ghz, but 150Mbps is okay for my needs.  The 72Mbps was killing me because I couldn't watch tv outside on my deck without some hicups.

So basically, creating a new "SSID" profile was all it took.  Give it a try.  As for my router wi-fi settings, I have it set to 802.11g/n 300mbps autochannel max for 2.4ghz and 802.11n 300mbps max for 5ghz

Been using a Linksys AE 3000 for 5 ghz band in my dm1-3020us for years with no problem, so IMHO it's a simple fix to HP's oversight.

Hey, this thread was VERY helpful because I have the same model(dm1z-3000) with the Ralink adaptor, which about a week ago crapped out on me, I tried removing and reinstalling it, with no luck. I WOULD have tried to reinstall/repair the driver if HP even offered it on their Support website, or if the card even showed up in Device Manager, but OF COURSE neither are available. So, I read this thread and checked the whitelist and bought what I thought was the correct Broadcom card from Amazon; even though I COULD'VE bought the Intel unit with Wireless AC support for HALF the price, and because the Ralink is no longer in production. So it came Thursday, 12/3/15, I went ahead and installed it and proceeded to boot up my computer but got the, "This device is not supported" error message instead... So, long story short, how do I go about modifying the BIOS, or does anyone know where to buy one of the TWO whitelisted cards (the Ralink RT5390 or Broadcom 4313)??!!? Honestly, I would MUCH rather use a modified BIOS so I can at least use the card I have until I can order the better Intel chip. And yes, I know I can just use a USB Wireless adaptor; which I AM currently doing, but I really dont want to have something unnecessarily taking up a USB port, plus sticking out, and would PREFER to take advantage of the portability and functionality I purchased the laptop for in the first place!!!
Any and ALL info is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
Thanks,
-Cliff
