Oh, I see. Thanks. I like a simple solution  🙂 I will try it.

I have to order a dual band router as well so maybe in a week I will have something to report...

O/S: Windows 10 Pro

The dual band network card upgrade appears to have been successful. There are some images below showing the routing of the aerial and the network card in place. When I switched on the laptop it appears to have installed all the drivers itself, including Bluetooth. I didn't have to do a thing.

Original Network performance (Download)

Wired 13.5MB/s

Wireless: 4MB/s

New Network performance (Download)

Wired 13.5MB/s

Wireless: 15.5MB/s

My ISP broadband speed is quoted as 17MB/s (max).

I was hoping for more, but the increase to 15.5MB/s has made a very useful difference. Browser response is much quicker.

This is having threaded the aerial from the hinge to the card slot, and is in preparation for inserting the aerial in the slot at the bottom of the display back.

This is very helpful and nice to see. We advise on a lot of hardware updates, but only very rarely does somebody actually follow through and report success. You have not only done that, but posted pictures. The Forum is grateful.

It's my pleasure. Thank you very much for your help 🙂

work for an HP probook 430 G1?

Thank you!

I Googled "maintenance and service guide HP probook 430 G1"

and found https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-probook-430-g1-notebook-pc/5379211/manuals

I suggest you look at the maintenance and service guide ; I hope it will tell you the compatible cards and how to fit one.

The challenge you may have is that your notebook may only have one arial. It's quite a challenge to obtain a second cable and then install it. The entire notebook has to be stripped, to do this. The 'free end' of the cable may arrive with a metal fitting that is not suitble for your notebook, so it has to be cut off. I fabricated a fitting like the existing one but I dont know enough about this type of arial to know how efficient mine is. I was lucky and it seems to work very well. The wireless speed rose from 3Mb/s to 16Mb/s+!

I had to use the  driver from the intel web site.

I fitted a SSD drive to the notebook and the performance went through the roof.
