Yeah, there is no debris in my fan, unless replacement fans from HP are also installed at the repair center with debris pre-loaded by your tech's.

To top it off, my laptop actually randomly powered down yesterday (read: I was using it, and then it clicked and turned off entirely, lost a fair bit of work too) This thing got back from service two weeks ago, what a piece of junk.

Would not recommend this laptop to anyone, unless they enjoy having it constantly broken and malfunctioning.

So not only has the issue continued after the fan replacement but your notebook powered down during use?  Did you notice it getting hot prior to this?  Was the fan spinning at all during this time?

There could be another heat related issue going on such as an improperly seated heatsink or thermal paste needing to be reapplied.  As well, bad RAM or hard drive failures also can lead to this happening.

To start I suggest checking that the system is reading your memory and hard drive as not having issues.  Run the built-in memory and hard drive tests and post the results.

Yes, the issue is persistent and I am now also experiencing additional issues as well, such as the laptop powering down. The laptop fan was spinning during this time and the laptop was not heating up either on the top (keyboard) or on the bottom panel.

The HDD is new (was replaced at HP service last month, because the last one died) and the memory is brand new and tested good as well.

I can post those tests, but it wont be til much later tonight

So if the fans were spinning and the notebook didn't get particularly hot (it would get noticably hot) during usage I am not sure your two issues are related.  If the memory and hard drive pass there is a possibility it is a loose connector or other simple solution.  I will be awaiting those results, thank you nbecker402.

I link doesn't work for me. I've got a Elitebook 8470p laptop. How do I check if I am running the latest bios version
