820 g3

Hi, recently received a couple of 820 G3's & went to install an extra 4gb ram into the spare dimm slot, i purchased the correct ram - http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/?partid=kcp421ss8/4  however the metal clips for the spare dimm slot are shorter then Dim1 & therefore the ram doesn't fit.

Can anyone explain what's going on, its making me feel stupd, the clips dont extend or at least not without force whch I dont want to do in fear of breaking them.

Hi,

Please use part number on page 40 of the following manual to order RAM from HP.

Thanks Banhien, so you are saying I have to use that HP ram for the additional slot the kingston ram can only be used in Slot 1?

Hi,

Do they (old and new) have same shape, same size ? Please check the above document to see part number (note: HP part number even Kingston RAM) on the old slot.

Its all very odd, the original ram & the kingston are exactly the same, the new ram fits in slot 1 & the original ram doesn't fit in slot 2.  As mentioned the metal clips are shorter on slot 2.
