HP EliteBook 840 (H5G23EA)
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

I bought Elitebook with 500 GB HDD and 32 GB SSD inside. The SSD is used for caching. I would like to buy a bigger SSD to I could have system on it. I think the current is format 2242 and there is a free place and another screw hole titled ST21. Does it mean I can use 2260 format? I measured it should fix, but is there any other compatibility paramater? I can't find any compatibility list for this laptop and 2242 format is not so ussual on the market. So please, help me.

Thanks,

Jan Kufa.

Yes you have the option to put in the longer card and just use the outer screw hole. Nice design.

i didn' t understand...do you mean it can't be replaced with 2260 format?

It can be replaced, but the laptop is not prepared for it. The screw that fixes the format 2242 cant be replaced into the hole for 2260 format, because there is not base for it. I solved it by myslef, in the evening I can upload photo.

@kufixo

@Huffer should have noticed that there was no mounting for that size expansion.

I would like to see the photo of what you did to mount it.
