Hello,

I've tried desperately enable the support for usb booting on my Elitebook 850 G1 without success.

I've created an admin password for the bios that i've used to log in and allowed legacy boot support. Secure boot is disabled. I've changed the boot order so that any usb drive would be on top priority. It still gives me only the choice of "internal hdd" and "network" in the boot options and does not boot from usb.

I tried all usb ports on the device and the docking station. I've updated the bios to the latest available version and tried a bios reset (wich had legacy suppor active is default), but no result.

The Stick boots on other computers without problems.

I've been able to install windows 8.1. by calling the setup from the usb-stick from windows 7, but it seems that it has some troubles booting up (grafic issues on boot -> automatic reset -> then windows boots with error message). Plus some drivers have not been installed. Any suggestions?

Thanks kai

I had a similar problem on my elitepad, could not get it to boot from any USB stick I had. These same sticks booted on my HP notebook etc. without issue.

Until I realised that all my USB drives were SanDisk. I bought another brand USB stick (Sony in this case) and set it up as a bootable device, and this worked without issue. So I'd try another brand of USB stick, as it may be related to some firmware driver on the stick - I think the SanDisk driver emulates a CD device as well as a USB device, which was confusing the BIOS on the computer.

Robert.
