Elitebook Folio 9470m
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi All

I have Elitebook Folio 9470m (2 years old) and since last couple of months facing an issue wherein Laptop stops charging even if plugged in. I have been trying following solution and has worked most of the times, after multiple trys. Though I donot think this to be permenant solution

- I disconnect the power cord

- take out the batteries

- press power on button for 25-30 sec for residual power to drain out

- re-connect the power cord and check if it starts charging

- if it is, then insert the batteries

The above has worked for last 3-4 times, but today tried doing the above but didnot work. Then connected power cord AFTER inserting the batteries and surprisingly started charging

Not sure if the issue is with the Power Cord/Adaptor or with the OS or something else....

Any thoughts on possible root cause and possible permenant fix will be appreciated

Hi

Try this:

Disconnect AC

Shutdown

Remove battery

Connect AC

Startup

Open Device Manager

Click the plus (+) sign next to Batteries category, right-click All of the "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" listings, and select Uninstall In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog box, click OK. (it’s ok if you only have 1 of these listings).

Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices.

Right-click the “ACPI Fixed Features Button" and select Uninstall. In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" dialog box, click OK.

Shutdown

Disconnect AC

Insert battery

Connect AC

Startup

Also try to update the Bios from the HP website once.

Let us know how it goes!
