Hello,
I recently bought a laptop yesterday, and I thought all laptops by now had bluetooth installed. I purchased an HP ENVY 15-j085nr Notebook PC yesterday (Product Number: E3S12UA#ABA), but when I wanted to transfer files from my phone to my laptop, I was not able to. I am currently trying to see how to enable bluetooth but It seems like my laptop didn't come with the bluetooth hardware installed. There are bluetooth drivers for my laptop so I would assume that my laptop should have come with the hardware installed already. I have checked the wireless network adapter to see if maybe it was included in there, but it doesn't show anything bluetooth related. When I go to search bluetooth, I also don't have the fourth option of change bluetooth settings that I previously had in other laptops. There is also no bluetooth icon at the bottom of the taskbar.
Also, in the wireless settings, nothing related to bluetooth appears
After looking at these images, does my laptop come with bluetooth? How would I be able to enable it? And if my laptop does not come with the hardware installed, what can I do to install bluetooth hardware on my laptop? Was it supposed to come with bluetooth? I have heard of some bluetooth USB's but I don't want to have a USB connected to my laptop the whole time just to have bluetooth.

Hi:
Below is the link to the product specs for your model.
Unfortunately, it does not come with bluetooth or that spec would have been listed next to the wireless connectivity spec where you see the wireless 1x1 802.11b/g/n WLAN listed.

One would think in this day an age that all notebooks would come fully outfitted with dual band wireless and bluetooth, but apparently not.
If having internal bluetooth is very important to you, it would be easy to remove the current wireless card and replace it with a wireless/bluetoooth combo card listed in chapter 3 of the service manual for your notebook.
Of the cards listed in the manual, I would get the Intel 2230. The ralink and mediatek cards have issues with the bluetooth working on W8.1.
Specs on the intel 2230...

Whichever card you get, it must have the HP part number on it or it may not work.

I don't see that HP stocks the Intel 2230, but you can find them on eBay reasonably cheap.

Wireless card R&R procedures can be found in chapter 5 of the service manual.
Of course your other alternative would be to purchase an external usb bluetooth adapter. They are normally very small, and may stick out of the port around 3/8ths of an inch.
