Since yesterday, the touchpad in my Envy X2 isn't working. The keyboard works without problem, but the touchpad doesn't.
I have the latests synaptics drivers
In device manager, I have a warning in Human Interface Devices / I2C HID Device
In device status:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
I have the latest chipset, etc. drivers installed. Any idea on how to solve it???
I already tried to disable, enable, reboot, reinstall driver (it says I have the latest available), etc.
thanks in advance

Dear Lions, it was finally a HW issue. I was able to boot in BIOS (where this BIOS have a utility with mouse) and using my current touchpad, I wasn't able to move the mouse.
This morning I borrowed from a friend his envy x2 keyboard and touhpad set, and after attaching to my tablet side, the touchpad worked without problem in BIOS. It doesn't worked in Windows, but I guess I broke something with the drivers and so while trying to fix it.
I reinstalled the PC to make sure it was OK, and with a fresh installation, my touchpad still didn't work, and my friends touchpad started to work again in windows.
So fully isolated, the problem is located in my keyboard+touchpad set. I will call tomorrow HP to ask for a replacement.
Thanks anyway for your help!

Hello,
I see that you're having an issue with the touchpad giving you this error message. A Code 10 error is generated when Device Manager can't start the hardware device, a situation usually caused by outdated or corrupted drivers. A device may also receive a Code 10 error if a driver generates an error that Device Manager doesn't understand. In other words, a Code 10 error can sometimes be a very generic message indicating some kind of unspecified driver or hardware problem.
Here are a couple of steps to help you resolve this issue.
Restart your computer if you haven't done so already.
- There is always the chance that the error Code 10 you're seeing on a device was caused by some temporary problem in Device Manager or with the hardware. If so, a reboot might fix the Code 10 error.
- Did you install a device or make a change in Device Manager just before the Code 10 error appeared? If so, it's very possible that the change you made caused the Code 10 error.
- Undo the change if you can, restart your PC, and then check again for the Code 10 error.
- Depending on the changes you made, some solutions might include:
· Remove or reconfigure the newly installed device.
· Roll back the driver to a version prior to your update.( Please follow the link since I don't know what OS you have.)
· Use System Restore to undo recent Device Manager related changes.
· System restore depending on what OS you have:
- · Run all microsoft updates.
- Delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values in the registry. Two particular values in the Windows Registry could be corrupted, causing the Code 10 error.
While this isn't a very common solution to a Code 10 issue, it is for many other Device Manager Error codes. Don't be afraid to try this if the previous ideas haven't worked.
Please try these steps and let me know the outcome.

reboot, done several times.
attaching & deattaching tablet to keyboard too (x2 is an hibrid PC)
running W8PRO
unable to rool back via device manager (button not available). Y unistalled it through add/remove programs synaptics driver, and then reinstalled and old driver (same error).
then, I upgraded to latest driver from sinaptics web page (newer than hp) same error
no updates available
no upper/lower in registry
I run a system diagnosys through BIOS, and I can acces a graphic interface, where I can move the mouse touching the tablet screen, BUT the touchpad doesn't also work. May it point to a HW issue? (PC is two months old).
Any help is welcome!!

No, that doesn't mean you have a hardware issue at this moment because you shouldn't be able to use the touchpad in the BIOS, just the keyboard or the screen.
Can you boot into safe mode and let me know if the touchpads works. Here is a document showing you how to boot into safe mode. This will let us know if it's a hardware issue or not.
I look forward to your response.

My Hp envy x2 only now started having this problem. I have been using a mouse fine and everything else works great, but the touch pad recently stopped responding to anything. Could someone advise me how to go about solving this problem as I am not computer savy. AlsoI am from Trinidad and Tobago so i really want to avoid having to call HP or send it back to get replaced. Please help some one. O right and also my sound system on this laptop is not loud, i really have to llisten carfully to hear anything that is said.
