Thank you very much.
I was honored to serve.
Yes, you can install W7 on your notebook.
If you have a full W7 64 bit installation program and product key, you can do the following to install W7...
First, you need to change a BIOS setting (and you will need to do that in order to boot from the W8 recovery disks too).
See this link below...
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03736054
Then for the W7 x64 drivers you need to:
First, install the amd chipset driver and reboot. First file listed on the page.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 7 - 64
Then all of the W7 x64 drivers and software from this model will also work on yours.

Hi:
Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489385
In order to use recovery disks to reinstall the operating system you need to purchase the same size or larger hard drive (750 GB).
A recommended replacement would be this one...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236497
If you want one with better performance at the expense of a little less battery time between charges, then you can opt for a 7,200 rpm drive.

If you need a set of recovery disks to reinstall the operating system and programs that came with your PC, you can click on the link below and then click on the link labeled Order Recovery Media.
Below is the link to the service manual. See chapter 4 for the hard drive removal and replacement procedures.

Looking at the manual, it looks easy enough to do.

If I convert to SSD would I still need to purchase a drive as/larger than the drive I am replacing?
I have a HP ENVY 15 m6-n113dx 750GB 5,400rpm disk drive wanting to upgrade to SSD. I purchased a Intel SSD Pro 1500 Series 180GB 2.5" SATA SSD hoping to see some improvmement in overall speed. I was also going to add 4GB of RAM for a combined 8GB. Any info will help, thanks.
