I have a new Folio 9470m running 64-bit Win7.  I am attaching it to a UltraSlim Docking Station

The ethernet port on the Folio works fine and I am able to connect to the LAN in the office without issue.

However, when I connect the same Ethernet cable to the docking station and then place the Folio on the docking station I am *not* able to get a connection.  The link lights on the docking station will not even blink.

The docking station is connect to power and the lights are illuminated.

I also have an external monitor,  wireless mouse and a wireless headset connected to the docking station.  All of these work flawlessly.

Any suggestions?  I am completely unable to find a driver for the folio that would be related to a docking station.

Have you found a solution to this problem yet?

We are having the same issue here.  We have tried multiple docks and multiple Folios.  All other peripherals work fine through the dock, just not the ethernet.  BIOS is at the current version and all drivers are up to date.

Just for the heck of it we tried a crossover cable...and it worked.  I don't think we are going to replace all the cables in our infastructure so I hope there is another fix for this.

With a straight-thru cable we get no link or activity lights on the dock's NIC.  Cross-over gives us link/activity lights and full internet connectivity at the proper link speed.

Can someone else who is experiencing problems give this a try and let us know if it works for them as well?

Thanks

I've tried the crossover cable and it did not work. New Ultraslim Docking Station and new Folio 9470m, ethernet on the Folio works fine. Dock it and attempt to use the ethernet passthrough gets nothing -  shows as disconnected.

Should this just be plug and play? Standard straight cat5e cable into the docking station?

Its a known HP problem. The messed up when building them. I have contacted them about this problem and they have sent me new replacement docks. Just call HP support and they will send you a replacement that actually works.

We are having the same problem with our 9470Ms and ultraslim docking stations.  It's frustrating to say the least, especially when we ship them remotely and discover they aren't working.  It's encouraging to hear that HP is aware, I'll try calling them.

I will agree with the HP known issue. According to our rep they had a bad run where the connector that comes into the side gets a bad connection which causes these types of issues. Outside of the dock the NIC will work fine which was killing us during our initial roll-out since we did the imaging outside of the dock but set them up at the users decks in the docks. What a pain.
