External display is not working when connected via a dock in the USB C port with HDMI cable.
I am having the exact same issue as the previous thread (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/External-display-is-not-working-when-...) about the same issue in 2020. Like the previous user I also see the below message when I run the USB port test.
When the HDMI cable is plugged into the Hub that connects through USB-C the system can not recognize the display. However, if I plug the monitor directly into the laptop via the HDMI cable the display is recognized. Like the previous poster I too need to use multiple screens. Please advise.

For example: HP Laptop 15-dw3013dx .
Your machine should have same ports as the above machine. Firstly its USB-C port is NOT a Thunderbolt port - full stop. It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use
Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
For more connectivity, please use
True Universal Docking Stations
