Product: Pavilion 17 Notebook
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

F12 toggles airplane mode on/off, but I need f12 to be just plain f12.

 

In VirtualBox, when starting a virtual machine, you have to press f12 to select the virtual boot device. But when I press f12 it toggles airplane mode. By the time I can use virtual box's keyboard capture feature, the VM boot loader has timed out and fails because it needs to know which VM to use.

Please try changing the Action Keys mode in BIOS. Here's a document with instructions:
