Hi,

My f6, f7 and f8 keys are not working. Before, I used those keys for volume at mute.

Thanks.

@drexlerthegreat,

Hi there and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  If you can test and see if you can use the Function keys to get into your sytem reset menu or bios options.

Here are the links that will help you and show you what keys to use.

HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 😎

Here is the link for getting into the bios to do the diagnostics.

If you are not able to get the keys to respond then you are dealing with a hardware issue.  If that is the case you will need to contact HP phone support for repair options.

Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

If you can get in to the diagnostics then back up all your data and run the system recovery back to original configuration.  This will put your system back to the way it was when it came out of the box.

I would suggest a system restore however it can only go so far back and if you do not know the exact time this problem started you would have to try many restore points until you find one that works.

Please let me know how things go.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

Welcome to HP Forum,

Have you done any new updates or install anything when this happen?  1 way to get this fix is to restore the unit to factory setting through recovery.  Before you do that, remember to back up your data.  Recovery can be done through F11 key when booting up the unit or using recovery disc.

Hope this help!
