HP Pavilion tx2000 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Hi,

I have a HP Pavilion tx2000 Notebook PC that was sucessfully upgraded from windows vista to win8.1 pro. However it failed upgrading to Windows 10. The message I got is like this:

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150

The display manufacture hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for surpport.

That is why I am here and seeking your help. I am not a computer person and have no idear about what NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 is. Does the message mean I have no hope to get Windows 10 unless considering a new PC?  Any help would be appreciated very much.

Thanks in advance.

Li

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.

Officially, your model does NOT support Windows 10 and it does not have drivers for Windows 10

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-tx2000-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/...

It is a bit old for Windows 10, it was manufactures long before Windows 10 came to live. Actually, Windows 10 was not even designed when this model was released.

I would recommend you not upgrade this model to Windows.

If you plan to stay on Windows 8.1, it will be supported till 2023.

If you plan to return to Vista, it will be supported by Microsoft till April 2017.

There is a very small chance to install Windows 10 by performing clean installation using ISO method:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

http://www.howtogeek.com/197559/how-to-install-windows-10-on-your-pc/

After install (if it installs) it might use some compatible driver for the video card and others. However, I don't recommend this and I would suggest you remain with the currect OS for this model.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the reply. I will take your suggestion and stay with win8.1.  Actually for a laptop with a more than 6 years service time, I am satisfied with its prerformance and would like to see how long it can go, certainlly would not expect it lasting to 2023.

All the best
