I have an HP Pavillion dv6t-4000 CTO Entertainment laptop.

I have a few issues

1) Even though I've logged in, the fingerprint scanner light will keep flashing

2) Sometimes it just will NOT detect my fingerprint and say it couldn't be found in the store

Are there any fixes for this?

Reaper,

Try / Consider:

Reinstall the Current Validity Sensor Driver:

  • Control panel > Device Manager > Biometric Devices > Validity Sensor > Uninstall
  • Scan For Hardware Changes (or Better: Restart / Reboot the computer)

According to what I find at your computer's website, this is the old Digital Persona Software.  There is not an update for the software package.  You might be be able to "reset" the DP database with a "repair", that is, if "Repair" shows as an available option:

Repair the Digital Persona Software

Control Panel > Programs and Features >

Scroll down and Look for HP SimplePass

Right-Click on Digital Persona
Select "Repair" (if available)

  • Restart / Reboot the computer

NOTE -- If "Repair" is not available, do NOT, NOT "uninstall" the software.

For later reference:

If you do get desparate enough to reinstall the software, be sure you first make a backup of your passwords (webcards) before you remove your existing Digital Persona software.  If you do not do so, you will lose all your website logins.

Export the DP Database / Make a Backup:

Start/Open Digital Persona > scan your fingerprint to open > Online Accounts > Manage >

See Import and Export > Select Export

   > Export online account data from this computer >

Scan your fingerprint > type your password >

Browse to your selected folder > type in a name > Finish

Keep the Export file safe.  Re-export on a regular basis.  If you have to reinstall your software, you will be able to use this file to restore your passwords.

Good Luck!

This may be late but to others who had the same problem this is what i did.

The blinking started for me when I updated and installed all the drives on my windows 10 envy laptop on the hp downloaded drivers and software page.

So this is what I did to fix it 1) I clicked the hp logo the HP Utility Center 2) Clicked the hp recovery manager 3)Clicked Microsoft system restore (restore the system to an earlier date) 4) I clicked a restore point date to an earlier date when the problem never occurred. When I restored it to an earlier date the blinking stopped .
