Mariahardwick,

Are you using a Microsoft account to sign in to or is this a Local account (not your Microsoft online account password)?

You can switch sign in options at the pin number screen and use your password instead. Did you forget that also? If you enter the wrong password, it will give you the password hint you hopefully created prior.

For changing an online microsoft sign-in, you can change it online from another computer with this link...

How do I change my password? - Microsoft Help

If you are on a Local account thats non administrative, you can have the administrator log in and change your standard acct. password for you.

If you are on a Local acct. that is the administrative account (and you did not create a password reset disk prior ),

we cannot help you crack the password as we cannot verify you are the owner of the computer.

You would have to use the HP Recovery to reset Windows back to factory. You will lose all the data stored on the C drive.

Rapidly tap the Esc key on startup to open the boot options screen, and choose F11 recovery.

The Laptops power cord should be plugged in for the recovery process.

If you have problems with using the recovery, let us know so we can help you with that.
