If you're not able to get on to power your screen up after doing hard reset & bios restore, then it's definitely a hardware issue that is to be like for.
But the restore BIOS have to be done many times for it to be successful.
No other ways I'm able to suggest other than these if the power on doesn't show up on the screen.
Since no fan or spin is heard & screen is true black, I suggest the chances are dim for you to do a troubleshooting.

Try and if it's not,
Give it for repair. Contact HP in your region.

thanks

HI sramah

Fixes you can try at home before any service repair --

Try doing a hard reset first:

Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset

Then, if that doesn't get it better follow these documents step-by step to test it & troubleshoot:

Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot

Test for hardware failures:

Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista)

If nothing above works, proceed:

Restoring the BIOS

If there are any blink/flash LED blinking indiacating as a code, refer these:

Blank Screen LED Error Codes

OVERVIEW: Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)

After all these troubleshooting, if you find any hardware failures or still no response, Contact HP on your region.

Hope the above steps helps in resoving it,

Thanks for an excellent tutorial. But unfortunately, when i press Windows+B keys+Power button, it beeps once and nothing happens. Back right side of the laptop is heated up so much, i had to shut it down. When i again tried the process:

1. Power light is on

2. CAPS key light is on

3. Wifi light is Orange.

Nothing else.

My guess is my BIOS needs to be refreshed. Needs some direction here..

Thanks again.

Thanks for your suggestions. will try it out. can i replace a motherboard? will that fix this issue?

That's what I'm guessing somewhat like board issue. But to reach at that conclusion you've to rule out hard drive failure, RAM failure, power supply unit failure, defective internal connections.
Have you tried reseating the memory stick from the slot & hard drive by disconnecting and reconnecting the SATA cable connection. Try that.

At this point.. those are worth trying. will do it and update. Thanks.

OK, try doing it.
Here is the user manual to help you in that: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02542455.pdf

thanks,

Tried reseating SATA HDD, removed and replaced the same RAM.

Here is what happens:

1. Now there are three beeps.

2. Power button and wifi comes up and goes down, repeats for more than 15 times, before staying alive.

3. Still black screen.

Could it be graphic\video card?

Thanks in advance.

OK. I think it's board. Give it for repair.

3 beeps is for CPU malfunction. But that's rare.
Anyway you have nothing more to do. Try again hard reset & see at least you could power it on, that's it.
