The "heat-pipe" sits on top of the CPU, and the CPU is seated into the motherboard.
So, did you remove the "heat-pipe" to get access to the fan?
Did you remove the CPU from the motherboard?
Did you remove the motherboard from its mounting in the case?
> i do remember it said " your computer shut down due to thermal" something and to protect it, it shut down but I'm just lost for words just wish it worked again.
Since you are not a qualified computer technician, I think that it is time for you to take the computer (and the power-adapter) to a qualified computer technician. Mention that "due to thermal" message, to help with the trouble-shooting.
