I have a G72-c55DX laptop that comes with the 2 core 2.0 ghz Pentium 6100 in a G1 (PGA988) socket , I see owners of other brand laptops sucessfully upgrading this CPU to an I3 or I5 processor and I'm looking for confirmation that the bios in my computer will accept the new processor . Thank you

Hi,

There is a HM55 chipset so both first Intel generation Core i3 and i5 are compatible. The best processor compatible for this laptop is a Core i5-540M. Look for other options and part numbers here:

$25 ebay CPU and I extended the life of my old laptop for another year
