@CherylG
I encountered an error while trying to create the recovery discs. It just said error and asked me to restart.
As such am unable to create the recovery discs.
Will my recovery partition be removed if I do a clean install?

Your Recovery partition will stay intact and there may be a file download for your model to re-enable the F11 option after W7 install.Check your drivers page. If you need help finding your drivers page post full model number and /or P/N from the Service Tag on bottom of laptop.
If you Contact HP and tell them the Recovery set creation fails they should send out a set. free I believe while still under the 1 yr warranty.

Hi: I have a few questions as I'm finally going to be upgrading my HP DV5t Vista 64 bit to Window 7
I want to do a clean install instead of upgrade but my concern with clean install, what happens to the 3rd party softwares that came with the HP. Can I make a back up disc for these 3rd party softwares since the laptop did not come with any CD with these software. I would like to install some of these 3rd party software back to my laptop after i upgrade. I tried searching knowledge base but could not find any info.
Thanks
jeff

Choose your DV5T HERE and it will take you to your software/drivers page to see what is available to download. You also have a folder on C: drive titled SwSetup which has many of the original software installers.

They are all working for me. Which model in the DV5 series do you have?
