as erico says "
Follow the instructions at this HP support document. to prepare your laptop for shipment."
is actual way to fix your laptop..
other thing you can do one more experimentwith your laptop ..turn on and cover your laptop base with a napkin/towel ball the sides .. let it opower on for 2-3 hours.. it will heat .. then turn of and on again..
sometimes this "trick" work when your laptops graphic chip has a dry solder connection .. anyone who is facing this kinda display problem or beep problem can do this experiment..
THIS IS NOT PERFECT or ACTUAL SOLUTION of your problem.. this is JUST A TEMPERORY SOLUTION .. you can backup your data..
GOOD LUCK

You have 1 of 2 possible issues or both.
I have found that the design of the DV4 video cable causes the pinching of the cable just behind the left hing. This causes a short in the video cable. This is HP part number 486878-001 which fits most of the DV4 models. This cable includes the video camera connection. Please check to ensure this fits and is the correct cable for your DV4. I have found 3 Pavilion DV4 laptops with this issue and the cost of this cable is as low as $7.00
The second possible issue is it truly the system board. If you have replaced the cable and still get the blink code of 4, then you will need to replace the system board. You can Google the full model of your Pavilion to find the proper HP part number. Example: HP Pavilion DV4 1435 DX system board. This model can be found on a white label under your laptop. This cost is from $99 to $140
I strongly recommend you have a professional replace both cable and board as if you do not understand how to disassemble and reassemble you can cause more damage than good.
The cable should take about 45 minutes to replace and the system board about 1.5 hours if they know what they are doing.
Good Luck

That suggestion is inherent with risk. If you try the "experiment" ,then you accept the risk of damaging the motherboard. If you do try this, be sure and remove the hard disk first to avoid other issues and protect your data.
