I just got an HP 2,000 (At least I think that is the model name) for Christmas, and I've figured most things out on my own, but I can't seem to find a "backlight" option for the keyboard. I'm typing in the dark and I know I should know the keyboard layout but it is kind of different from Desktops, so it makes it very frustrating when trying to input passwords and such.
MY QUESTION IS: Is there an option in the settins where I can activate a backlight, or do I need to purchase seperate hardware? If so, how much is it and how much would it cost to service? Thanks

Hi,
HP2000 is a series of many models, what is yours ? To turn the keyboard back light (or backlit) on or off, use one of the following methods depending on your model.
- Press and hold the fn key and then press the space bar .
- Press the F5 key.
- On some models, the back light key is f12.
If none of them works that means your machine does not have a backlit keyboard and if you need it you would have to buy 2 things:
(a) A systemboard or motherboard which has a zif socket for "lights",
(b) The keyboard itself.
Regards.

Either way none of those methods worked, but thank you. It looks like I'll have to buy one of the two things you mentioned, but I wouldn't even know where to start, can you help me with that as well or should I make a seperate post?
