The blinking blue light on the scroll bar means it's low on battery power and lost signal to the usb device.  I own the same mouse and experienced this myself.  Sometimes if I turn it off and on again it will start working for a little while, but if I change the battery the problem always goes away for me.

I am having the same issues as described above.

I've owned my mouse since November and have used the switching on and off to get the last bit of charge out of the batteries as well.  A new battery is not solving it this time.

I did notice that this issue started for me right after a windows update, so possibly they changed something.

Also, I have uninstalled and re-installed a driver downloaded from HP as well, with no luck.  The device is being located, but no cursor movement.

I am also having this problem. I think its an overheating problem. those little recievers only have so much surface area to displace heat and most of its inside the usb port.. when the port starts warming up it overheats the reciever. i want to hook mine up to a usb extension to see if it fixes the problem. one of those slot mount usb adapters might also do the trick.

Same thing happened here.  I went to the "Mouse" section of the control panel and set the pointer options to "display pointer trails" and suddenly everything was back to working.

To negate the annoying trails, set the trail display slider to "short".

This is obviously a work-around and not a solution.  If you turn the trails off, the pointer freezes again, even though the mouse actually keeps working (but with no indication of where it is, you could lose your mind trying to work with it.)

How about if HP finds the real solution and fixes the **bleep** thing?

Hey guys. I had this problem yesterday. I solved it. You need to dongle your mouse to the receiver. Receiver is plugged, the mouse os OFF. Hold the top button and turn ON the mouse, keep holding the button for 3 more seconds, and it's done. That worked for me.

I have also been experiencing similar problems with the same mouse: The tracker light is on, the LEDs will blink when the mouse is moved, yet the mouse seems to not be communicating with the computer. I have tried the advice given in the troubleshooting manual, and the advice posted on this thread, yet none of that seems to help.

Also, to clarify, when the top button is referred to, is it referring to the windows flip button on the top, the left/right buttons or some other, less obvious button?

I am experiencing this same problem for the first time in over a year of having this mouse.  I have tried all the suggestions shown but still no luck.  Did you get yours to work and if so, how or what did you do?

Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

Okay..so I figured out how to pair the dongle (reconfigure the mouse and adapter connection)...you

have to install the  hp mouse program using the cd that came with the mouse...once you have the

"hp mouse suiteinstalled on your computer open the "hp mouse control center"....click on "configure

then click on "mouseon the bottom right click on "dongle pairinga pop up window will appear with

instructions it says to turn off mouse and disconnect the adapter...then reconnect adapter and hold

down the black button on top of the mouse that has a picture of a little piece of folded paper on it...

hold that button and turn on the mouse...keep holding for 3 seconds and it should reconnect the

mouse to the adapter..I hope that helps
