Actually the acceleration mode was ON before the update to windows 8.1 and it 3D DriveGuard was working normally.
after the update, it has stopped working.
Concerning the link that you sent, what do you mean by HP Envy 6- 1000 series? is the Envy DV6 7202 model considered as a sub-series for the 1000 series or what?
Please advise
thank you

HI Maroun84:
Thank you for your response.
I followed the above document on a Windows 8.1 computer and was able to locate the chipset to update the driver.
The link may not be for your specific mode,l but it should work.
As you stated you tried, and were unable to, I would suggest that you uninstall the software and download and reinstall . HP 3D DriveGuard Software click here.
Please let me know the result.

It didn't work......
I'm getting the same errors that I wrote down in my inital post.
Also I doubt that this is related but Windows Explorer crashes everytime I try to use file explorer or I right click on my recycle bin....
Thanks

I have uninstalled HP 3D DriveGuard and then I tried to install it using the link that you provided. I couldn't manage to install it using the link that you provided because I got an error that the accelerometor is not present in my laptop. so I had to reinstall the old driver that I have and I succeeded, but as before it didnt detect my hard drives.
Concerning updating my chipset, I tried to follow the steps described by HP, but i was also unable to update it becauuse the computer detected that I already have the best driver installed for the chipset, and thus the update didnt succeed.
Please advise if there is another solution / update or fix for it.
So far, I am unable to see any driver updates for my laptop on this link for 8.1:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5313833&
the versions installed on my notebook are:
Intel Rapid Start Technology (driver for the chipset) 2.1.0.1002
Intel Rapid Start Technologu (software) 12.8.0.1016
HP 3D Driveguard 4.2.9.1

HI all:
Thank you for your responses.
Moroun84: You do have the latest driver version for the Intel Rapid Start Technology (both) and the HP 3D Driveguard.
In one of the previous posts , he restarted him computer 3 times after doing the update and it started working..
If you have utilized all the above options and it is still not working, then you will need to revert back.
With Windows 8.1 just being released it may take some time to develop new drivers.
Both HP and Microsoft work together to develop and release updated drivers. Many factors affect this process.

Hi Maroun84:
There is more then one model of Envy DV6 7202.
I am sending you a link to help get to the necessary drivers. click here
Click on your model
Click on your product on the next screen.
Click Drivers
Select your operating system and click next.
The drivers for your computer will be listed on that page.
You can also check the manufacturer's website for updates also .
Here is the link to the Intel website click here.
HP recommends that you only update the bios from the HP website and not the manufacturers site.

I have The HP Spectre XT Running Windows 8.1 64-Bit and then I find out HP 3D DriveGuard does NOT work
Can someone help me solve this issue with out updating the BIOS. The reason i dont want to update my bios is because its going to probably fail and it says please un-enroll of intel anti theft or other lo-jack service and im confused
