HP 530 Won't Boot-up

I have a slightly different problem but I know you guys can help:

my hp 530 notebook (ROM date 03/08/2008) has a problem. Its dvd rom failed a few moonths ago and recently the hard disk failed also. I have acquired another hard disk and partitioned it from another machine but my attempts to install windows xp either from a flash disk or external dvd rom have been futile. when I try to boot from a bootable flashdisk (which I have set up), getting to the windows console, am not able to 'see' the hard disk. The notebook is not even initiallizing when I try to boot from the external dvd rom. Please somebody help me solve this problem

My HP 530 wont switch on even after I left it charging for over 1 hours. Through out this time the orange LED was on but switched on its on after about 12 Hrs. It still failed to switch on even after this, please help?

My HP 530 is not switching on even after I left it charging for over hours.  but switched on its on after about 7 Hrs. It still turn on when its about to show the windows loggo it shuts down automaticly .

Before this it used to auto shut down when i open many applications if the battery power is 0 % .

also it used to like when the battery is full its stars to decrease the power % from 98% to 0% then it would shut down automaticly .i tried using the same hp530 battery of a friend the problem was gone then i used my batery on his laptop and it worked .

when i returned my bettery on my laptop the problem remains .

the orage light is on for many hours but its not charging and it still auto shut down.

Help is much appreciated.
