Hi
I have HP 550 with gme965 chipset
want to upgrade the CPU ..
Now on it I have Core 2Duo T5270 with FSb 800
if I put on it a CPU with FSB speed of 1066 .. Will it work ?
I know that enyway it will pass maximum of 800 mhz .. but not matter ..will it work or not ..
Want to change with Core2duo T 9600 or T9800

Want to change with Core2duo T 9600 or T9800My guess would be no....just from the read... but unless we get your System P/N to verify the highest processor it can be upgraded to. But from my experience 1066 is reserved for higher end boards and 800 and 1066 board CPU don't cross or work in each configuration.
How Do I Find My Product Number?

HP only offered three processors on that model:
● T5670 1.80-GHz processor, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz front side bus (FSB)
● T5470 1.60-GHz processor, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz front side bus (FSB)
● T5270 1.40-GHz processor, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB
The logic seems compelling. Other processors with the same socket, same fsb and known compatible with the chipset will work, right? Ain't necessarily so. In fact, odds are against it. The only processors which can be guaranteed to work are the ones listed above. Others might but unless someone here has actually tried it (unlikely) we don't know. If you try it and it does work please let us know as that adds to the knowledge of the Forum.
