hp elitebook 840 g3 l3c65av
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey everyone,

on my new job I got a hp elitebook 840 g3 l3c65av  as my own notebook from my sysadmin a couple of months ago.

A few days ago I wanted to update the BIOS to a newer version (V01.14) since there are a lot of fixes and improvements.

However when trying to access the bios, it keeps asking for a bios administrator password, which i never set.

I assume the sysadmin set a password for the bios, however he left the company and no further details about what exact password was set is known to me.

I searched across the forums and found that it is possible to receive an unlock file from HP Tech support, however i cannot succeed in contacting HP support, the online chat was with some guy Pakriti, who wasn't very helpful and told me i should contact HP support Germany since I am in Germany for a couple of weeks on a trip.

Does it make sense to perform a BIOS recovery , will that reset the password? Is there any other way i can do that?

Any help would be really highly appreciated!

Thanks!
