I just signed on to this web site, I too have Compaq CQ60-615DX.  I bought it in April 2010. A week ago I carried it on a flight in my compter bag and when I attempted to turn it on yesterday, it was just a bunch of horizontal colored lines, top to bottom. I never dropped, or abused it.  Was working fine before the flight and stored it an overhead bin, nothing else.

I will have to check into replacing the screen I guess...

Before you run out and buy a new screen, connect up and external monitor and make sure it's not the video card. If you get the same thing on the external monitor, then it's the card and/or driver.

If the monitor shows a good picture then more then likely the screen is gone. Could also be a bad cable, some times they are not routed correctly and the wires fray to cause a short or open circuit or both.

Besides that if you bought it in April 2010, then it's still under warranty, but time is running out.
