Pavillion 15 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good evening everyone,

I recently got an HP Compaq LA2205wg screen, to plug into my HP Pavillion 15 Notebook, because my otebook screen is broken and i still need to work with that notebook. What I didn't notice in the beginning was that this Compaq screen has an DP and not the normal hdmi port. So i bought an adapter and thought that would work fine...But it didn't. The screen does notice that the plug is in there but I can't seem to get my pc to output 1680*1050 60Hz, even though the range goes from 1920*1080 60Hz. I even replaced the adapter and treid to fix it via "Intel graphics controll panel", but to no avail... it is still not working... the screen still just states, that it doesn't get a signal and goes into hibernation.

looking foward to your replies

 Hi  @Gnägi,

Thank you for posting. I have read your post, and I understand that you are trying to connect your laptop with an external monitor with HDMI cable and adapter. I wanted to help.

Have you tried with other cables like VGA or DVI? And how did you set the display properties? Using duplicate display or show desktop only on display 2?

Here is a document may help:

HP Notebook PCs - Connecting a Monitor, Projector, or TV (Windows 10, 😎

Hi there 🙂

I set it to second screen only. Read through that document already, didn't help.

No I havent used VGA or DVI, because my Laptop doesn't have the ports, plus I bought that Adapter for 35€:/. Furthermore I think its kind of rediculous that its so hard to connect a HP laptop to an HP screen via HDMI-DP solution.

Looking forward to an answer 🙂

Hi @Gnägi,

I will suggest contacting the maker of the adapter since we are not certain that the adapter works.
