You're very welcome.
Yeah, the T7200 is nice because of the 4M cache and that it can run a 64 bit OS (not necessary, and not recommended unless you can install 4 GB of memory or more).
The T2500 can only run a 32 bit OS, but it will certainly be better than the celery (as I like to call them) processor you have in there now.

Hi:
I can't find any info at all on your PC. The service manuals for the v5000 list AMD processors only and the v5100 lists the older Intel Pentium M processors.
The HP nc6400 business notebook which has the same chipset can take a pentium C2D processor up to a T7600.
I wouldn't know if the BIOS in your PC would also support that. If you have access to the notebook's support and driver page, the best thing to do is to read the BIOS release notes for all BIOS version listed on the driver page and see if they mention adding support for certain processors.

My laptop is a compaq presario 5204nr, it has the 945cm chipset, that supports 2 duo intel precessors, I have a t4400 processor that is a 2 duo 2.2 mhz I want to use, I have visited some blog's that say it will work, but havent tyred it yet? what to you think!

Check the BIOS release notes to see if any add support for newer processors.
If they do, update the BIOS (in a supported operating system listed on the download page).
I think a T7200 will work just fine, as long as there are no BIOS updates required, or if there is, that you apply the update.

Thanks, I did not get the t7200, but did get the t2500 and it is in the list of compatible processors. 2 ghz, 2 meg catch, 667 side bus, socket m. this should give me a boost in perforamce over the m410 in it now. the only difference between the two is the catch, the t7200 has a 4 meg catch, which would have been nice, but you have take what you can get.
I still have the black screen problum and still working on it, does work with external montor ok though
I have found out how to view the listing of processors, go to the hp sight and put in your chip set to see what processors are compatible. It has quite a long list of processors and all there spec's.

Thanks, I forgot about the 64 bit instuction set. But the fix for the black screen is still a looming problum and I still need to find out whats going on with that, I am in hopes that someone on this post will know the answer. I have replaced all the items I can think that would cause it. I am going to take a close look at the conection on the motherboard where the lcd cable plugs in, to see if there is a bad solder joint on one of the pin contections or become loose when the dispaly hinges broke. that my be a cause of flaky voltage to the inverter.
