Hi:
It might depend on what BIOS you have installed.
If you read all the release notes for the BIOS revisions, you can see that some releases add support for newer processors.
The service manual, link below, states you can upgrade to a T2600 (see page 1-2).

Hi,
I have the same problem with a hp pavilion dv5194ea. I have also upgraded the bios to the last version (F.24 A).
However, I don't find the list of compatible cpu to upgrade my laptop. Where are the release notes for the last bios??

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
The supported processors are listed in chapter 1 on page 1-2.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00700932.pdf
Since your notebook has the T2400, it looks like you can go to the T2600 according to the book.
But if you look at the release notes for F.17A, it adds support for the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors.
They are different than the Intel Core Duo (T2600).
The core 2 duo's that are compatible with the mobile Intel 945 processor are ones like the T5600 and T7200, with a 667 MHz FSB.
Unfortunately, I have no idea if these processors will absolutely work in your notebook, but there would be a good chance that they would.
I would not go beyond the T7200.

I have already seen the pdf file about the manual for my laptop, but it's too old. Cpus shown are compatibles for the
first version of bios: There aren't any information for the lastest bios version (F.24 A) and new cpus.
I also noticed that core 2 duo cpus has the same socket that is used on my motherboard (479) http://ark.intel.com/products/series/23516/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T7000-Series
However, the real problem is that an information sheet about 30A7 motherboard model doesn't exsist. For example which is the maximum Mhz for fsb supported also for rams??
P.s. I can't find the release notes for the last version of bios. Where did you find them???

Like I said, on your notebook, the best you can possibly do will be the T7200.
Only the HP business notebooks have microcode support for the T7400 and T7600.
You can try one of those but if it doesn't work, don't blame me.
The memory will run at the fastest speed of the CPU which is 667 MHz.
You can install PC2-6400 (800 MHz) memory in your model, but it will downclock to 667 MHz.
For the release notes, look under the Fix/Enhancement line on each BIOS revision on the link you posted above.

The motherboard in my laptop has 945pm chipset. I found this guide http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/945PM_Express.html
So I put a T7600 in my laptop and now it runs very well
