Just bought a

HP EliteBook 8440p Notebook PC and wondering why it does not seem to have an HDMI port?  Does it have one?

See Page 2 of this Manual:

It has Displayport, not HDMI. They are similar and there are adapters to turn Displayport into HDMI. Here is an explanation of the features. Both carry audio and video:

My question is realated. Can I connect two monitor -- one to the VGA port and on to a display port - DVI (or VGA) adapter/cable?

I want to use two external monitors without a docking station.

Thank goodness that my 1500 dollar laptop doesn't have the most popular connection on it! As the article says, HDMI is the most popular interface and we may have "forgotten" that there is another interface. Um, then why not use the one that everybody wants?

There are connection ports for everything under the sun but I can see how adding the most popular connection to the most popular device, outside of a monitor, was outside the scope of a high end laptop. I will just order the 15 dollar adapter. Or, and this is just a thought, maybe for 1500 dollars, HP could either:

1. Get rid of 1 of the 4 USB plugs and replace it with an HDMI plug or

2. Spoil their customers by throwing in the 15 dollar converter for free

Very strange......
