Hi,

Last week i checked the bios updates for my father's elitebook 8440p and saw 2 different entries, f.13 (2011) & f.50 (2014) . Afterwards I updated the BIOS from F.12 to F.13 without any problems.

I hesitated to update it with F.50 because when i checked the revision history of F50, I saw that it goes back to F.21, nothing  is mentioned about F.1* series.

So is it safe to update it with F.50 or is it for some other versions of 8440p (if there are any) ?

And if it's safe then why  am i seeing both F13 and F50?

Thank you.

I see, my bad. I remember seeing some people answering on behalf of HP, therefore thought they were HP guys.

If I understand correctly in order to get such support I need to have a warranty, right?

If so, it's been out of the warranty for years.

So do you have anyhing in mind apart from rolling the dice with F.50?

Any idea why two seperate bios files? Do you share my concerns?

if it exist in your drivers model then it's ok to update it

i update my 8460p also

8460p is a different case, if you take a look at the support page of your laptop you're gonna see just one entry,
F50 and it's revision history is continuous, which isn't case for 8440p.

As I don't wanna brick the laptop I'd rather wait and see the response from HP itself.

I'd like to learn the reason as well.

This is a peer to peer forum, not an official HP support site.
Have you tried contacting the HPSC?

>Yes, I have.

That is NOT the HPSC, that's HP Support Forum, just another peer to peer forum.

Due to 8440p's being in 68CCU ROM  family, I updated its BIOS to F.50 without any problems.
