I have taken delivery of a brand new HP x360 15-u000na convertible PC today, all is well apart from the space bar; it only works if I press it dead centre.  I'd say about 15-20% of the space bar at each side is useless, so it's a real struggle to type (I've had to type this very slowly and to keep stopping to insert missed spaces).

I've contacted HP support in the UK, and they simply told me that it isn't a fault, that's just how the space bar is.  Therefore, they can't repair it, because technically it isn't a fault, and that I should return it to the store I bought it from if they'll allow me to.

Is this really the case?  That HP deliberately chose to have a space bar that doesn't work across its full length?  What is the point in that?  I'm really disappointed if so.

I have the same issue as reported here.

I got a brand new HP ENVY 15-U111DX X360 convertible PC last weekend. Almost every thing is working well with exception of the spacebar on the keyboard: it only works if it is pressed on its center.

After some research on the internet, I've found that this is a very common problem on this HP laptop. As this is a very frequent problem on this laptop I'll be returning it to the store. Just by typing this short text, I had to go back several times to insert spaces.

Had the exact same thing happen to me.  Ordered 3 HP Envy x360 15't, for me and the kids.

Two of the laptops worked fine, but mine had the problem with the space bar.  I noticed that the spacebar was curved, higher in the middle, but lower towards both sides, whereas in the two laptops that worked the spacebar was perfectly flat.

In order to get a space, the spacebar had to be hit pretty hard, dead center.  Otherwise no space.  Laptop is now on it's way to the HP repair center for a warantee fix.  But since this appears common, HP really needs to address their keyboard supply.

And why do I need to have a backup of my data, with the threat the HDD data might not be recovered?  It's a keyboard issue!
