Hello, I bought this laptop because it was a good price for the robust hardware. The 5900rpm drive was a major concession but I figured I would be able to swap that out for an SDD that I already own.
Turns out, the whole notebook has to be disassembled for a drive swap since the bottom of the laptop is one piece aluminum panel, and disassembly doesn't look very easy. I'm also worried about voiding my warranty if I do this. Advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.
The only servcie manual I could find was for this model with the different rear panel design,

There is not really a single Bang & Olufsen model so we need to know your precise model number or product number:

On some models you need to remove the top cover on others the bottom cover. HP has stated that as long as you do not damage anything, a hdd to ssd upgrade will not void the warranty.

I managed to figure this one out. There was a screw in the DVD drive bay that I hadn't noticed and the back panel came off once I removed that. It looks like there should be two screws there though and I'm missing one. Is there any way to order one?

Hi,
I have the same model 17-n178ca and was not able to find the proper Maintenance and Service Guide. The one for ENVY 17 does not look like the botttom of my mine.
Please send us the location of where the proper manual or closest as can be found.
