Just started this morning, suspect I may of had an upgrade applied. Flicker not on Desktop only inside windows and apps.

Sorted!
Download new BIOS for your make and model, seems to be an issue with the latest graphics software.
Find your Envy here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteHome?cc=us&lc=en
Enter and select your model.
Select OS
From list of available Software & Driver Downloads
Select and download
HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)
The BIOS updater will run and laptop will reboot, once I had rebooted flicker gone, happy days!

Thank you so much! I had exactly the same problem and searched all over the web for the fix. Finally stumbled upon your post, did the BIOS update on my hp Envy and it worked like a gem. I wish I had found it sooner. I swear I've had this problem a few times, and in the past thought it was a virus. I never was sure how I got it fixed in the past. I'm saving your instructions in case I have the problem again!
