HP Envy J2R69AV
Windows 8.1

I recently purchased an HP envy J2R69AV
Custom with the choice of the 4th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U Dual Core Processor + 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M Graphics.
I underestimated how much I would miss a quad core processor.

Is there any way I could upgrade to a quad core processsor while still keeping my graphics card in tact?

Thanks.

Hi,

This is a forum, not a shop. You have to ask your question directly using Need help on that site.

Sorry.
I already purchased the computer. There was no option for a quad core AND the gtx card and I wondered if that is due to technical restrictions or if I could by myself upgrade the processor.

I am asking if anyone knows where i can look to find if my processor is upgradable in the computer.

Hopefully this will be enough.
http://store.hp.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ConfigureView?storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&... This is where i made the laptop. info iss below as well.

just to clarify, I am curious to know which intel processors, if any, I could use to replace the processor in my machine while still having the GTX 850M function correctly,

Thanks so much

I've seen online that 4510u processors are usually soldered to the board. is this the case with my hp envy 17t?

I assume that would mean you could not replace the processor at that point.

The User has provided enough information.

From Page 20 of the Manual:

System board (includes processor and replacement thermal material)

So we know the processor is soldered to the motherboard. To have a Quad Core you have to replace the motherboard.

The top processor board with the discrete graphics you want to have is:

Core i7-4510HQ (x.xGHz, SC turbo up to x.xGHz), 1600MHz/xMB L3, Quad 47 W
discrete memory, and the Windows 8 Standard operating system for HP ENVY 17 Notebook
PC computer models    763727-501

I think I'd be learning to live with the dual core or maybe thinking about an SSD instead of more radical upgrades but the problem is that it is a closed system (no easy access doors) so any upgrade is a giant chore.
