First, does HP recommend a docking station that is compatible with produc # J8L28AV that can permit wireless keyboard/mouse and dual monitors?
Second, is the laptop have a "click-down" function to attach to the docking station or is USB the only option?

USB is the only option. Here is the Manual and you can see a diagram of all the connections and ports on pages 6-14. There is no "expansion" or "docking" port. For it to be a click-down it would have to be on the bottom and the bottom is depicted on page 14.
HP apparently does not carry it since the link to it in this site is dead, but the 3005pr has dual monitor support through an HDMI and a DP port at full HD resolution. Newegg.com has it in stock:

It has lots of usb ports so you can plug the little sending units for the wireless keyboard/mouse and still have plenty left over. Set this all up with everything connected and a spare AC adapter and you can plug in with just a usb connection and a power connection and go. About as fast as a click-down.
There are many other similar products on the market. I think there have been driver issues with this HP model. I know Belkin makes one, too:
