How many services do you have running? Because there's no way a laptop should take five minutes to shut down unless it's being hibernated with a lot of programs running? Something else is going on. Has your computer slowed lately when it comes to fetching, opening and running programs? This is beginning to sound like a memory card issue.

They have been slower but not that slower only problem speed wise is booting up and shutting down.

Hello,

What I am implying is that your laptop comes with four Gigs memory but it supports up to 8 GB DDR3 memory. It might be time to upgrade your laptop's ram, because your virtual ram is obviously being overtaxed and exceeded. It is why your laptop is taking so long to shut down. The only fix for this is to quit running so many programs and stop with the desktop eyecandy. Or upgrade your ram. Laptop computers can only be pushed so far. Even my favorite laptop, which has 16 GB/ 24 virtual, and an i7 from heaven, has its limitations. Okay?
