Sorry should have been more specific. I meant..... On a computer that will not boot or has a bad hard drive. For a fresh OS installation with no access to recovery disks or partitions.

No way to identify via only having the product key that i know of sorry. Maybe some one else does but i dont think there is a way.

If its too much of a hassle for you Ill just tear it back apart and pull the bios battery for a while.

Update on my Mini..

Its a Vivienne Tam Hp Mini model 1141NR

I pulled it back apart and did a bios clear. Pulled the Bios battery, Main battery and crossed the posts to discharge. Still no go.. Asking for password still..

Down to me hoping you can help me out.

Never Mind, I found a web site that decodes all halt codes via web browser and gives you the alternate pass to put in, worked perfectly.. I would post the site here for all to see including the techs that are helping but i dont know if posting outside sources is allowed here or not.
