There are many issues with this card on Ubuntu 14.04 as I have seen on Ubuntu forums and launchpad. I suggest to get an Intel card. This wifi chip is very poor anyway.

I came across Ubuntu forums discussions to here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/453605/ralink-rt-3290-bluetooth-problem-on-ubuntu-14-04

And Bluetooth still didn't work.

Once an item is purchased, I don't want to spend an excess of money on purchasing spares for built-in hardware, so I don't think replacing the card is the solution.

I understand. And thanks you for the follow up.

At the end of the day I am not happy with my purchase and I will not recommend HP to anyone. (Why? Specified features do not work with the specified OS)

Ubuntu is a very poor linux. I have used it for years but got disgusted by a worse hardware support with each new release since 7.04. Linux Mint is much better and Debian is becoming more popular too. Why HP use really bad wifi chips on linux like the Ralink 3290 which is awful even on Windows is beyond me. Intel wireless cards work out of the box in most of the live CDs but you can't see many laptops with them.
