Hi. I want to change my actual Hard Disk (SATA 2) for an SSD (SATA 3), but i don't know if my notebook (Pavilion DV6-6b13ss) fully supports SATA 3 connections.
I've been reading the manual and it only speak about SATA 2 (3GB/s) connections, but i think that it refers to the Hard Disk manufactures, because the chipset (Mobile Intel® HM65 Express) supports SATA 3 connections.
I made some test and it says that i have a maximun bandwich of 6GB/s, so i think that the connection supports SATA 3, but i'm not sure.
Thanks for any help or comment.

Hi,
I can see the image now (has been approved). Yes, very safe to use SATA III SSD/HDD.
All the best.

As Experts a few of us have queried our HP contacts about the lack of specific SATA type information in notebook specifications. The response we have gotten has been that on the newer notebooks that the SATA2 specification is what is supported.
If you use a SATA3 SSD there won't be a problem because the SATA standards support downward compatibility. A SATA3 SSD will work at SATA2 data transfer speeds when connected to a SATA2 hard disk controller.

I think it at first, but if i'm not mistaken, SATA 2 works with a 3GB/s bandwich and SATA 3 works with a 6GB/s bandwich.
In this image you can see that my hard disk controller supports a 6GB/s bandwich.

That's its why i think that it supports SATA 3 connections.

Hi,
I can't see the image (not yet approved) but if you could see 6Gb/s then it will support SATA III. It won't hurt to install SATA III, only a bit dearer.
Regards.
