Hello please people help me out. I really need help. My HP pavilion dv6000 is quite old but works fine. Yesterday I put a movie on download and went out for a few minutes. When I came back, the laptop was on the sleep mood (the screen was black) but the LEDs were on. I thought it was normals so I tries to brinkg it back from the sleep mode but it wasn't working. So I pressed the power button and restarted it. Initially the screen wouldn't go any further from the hp screen. Then I restrated it again. And since than only the LEDs switch on but the screen is still black. The screen won't show anything. Only at the beginning there are a few voices that but then the laptop is silent and only the LEDs are on. I've tried every thing. The esc thing as well. I took out the battery and put it back again. But ntohing's working. Please help me!!

This is a liltle dangerous procedure but works with mine dv6 just fine.

1.Block air vents with something.(a t-shirt,electrical tape...)

2.Remove the battery.

3.Turn the computer on and listen to the fan.

4.Wait until the computer heats up and the fan reach maximal rpm.

5.Unplug power.

6.Plug the power back. (don't wait to cool)

7.Turn the computer on. (sound light should turn light)

8.UNBLOCK AIR VENTS

9.have fun

@noway444
You'd think they'd have this posted somewhere but after a week of searching, this is the only thing that worked. Ps I had to unplug the laptop and just go from battery start up + this method for it to work

It is obvious that there is no fix. poor product. I have the same problem, as do many others. in fact, this is one of two products that OWN, the other, a desktop reports a fan failure and shuts down. but the fan is working properly. my solution is stay away from HP products. have you noticed tha all these problems seem to occure right after the warranty runs out. strange but true. anyway I'M going back to Dell, A much better product, and great customer service. unlike HP WHO looks for you to pay for service on faulty products. stop serching for an answer and switch dealers.

Exactly. I have 3 HP products, every one has failed soon after the warranty runs out. HP sucks. back to Dell FOR ME.

ANOTHER THING I NOTICE HP DELETES MY NEGATIVE POST.

Thanks so much. I thought my wife had a dead screen. She leaves the laptop on almost all the time and I think it's because she was afraid the screen wouldn't come back on. Anyway this solved the problem. Thanks.
